Precision and scope: lessons from Leonardo

Ten hours after leaving the house I have returned from the Leonardo Da Vinci exhibition in London at the National Gallery. 15 of his completed paintings have been gathered for the first time ever surrounded by work from his students and his own sketches.

Diary #50 – Structure, flow and a fine afternoon

Physicists have told us there are two ways of perceiving the universe. Particles and flow.

With flow you can contain it with lines and swoop it into arcs. There are ways to make a watcher’s eye trace a line you have made. You have defined their experience. Whatever opinions or impressions they may take away.
